During normal conduction, RHYTMIQ operates like 2 pacemakers running concurrently – one in AAI(R) mode and one is VVI mode
​
The device provides AAI(R) at the LRL and/or sensor indicated rate with backup VVI pacing at a rate 15 bpm slower than the LRL
​
Mode is switched to DDD if 3/11 ventricular paced beats are detected
AV search + is used to search for intrinsic conduction to switch back to AAI – switches when <2/10 cycles are ventricular paced
