Causes of a PMT?

Typical PMT causes are

•Loss of atrial capture

•Loss of atrial sensing (atrial undersensing)

•Atrial oversensing

•PVC with retrograde conduction/accessory pathway

•AV search algorithms when there is no AV conduction

NOTE: patients with complete heart block antegradely can still have retrograde AV node conduction.
