End of episodes

End of episode refers to determining if the VA episode has terminated (either spontaneously or after therapy).

Abbott

Return to sinus rhythm intervals are programmable

•Short: 3 intervals

•Normal: 5 intervals

•Long: 7 intervals

When 12/16 intervals (non programmable) are slower than the slowest VT zone

Redetection looks for 8/10 fast intervals to occur.


An end of episode duration period is then set in seconds (non programmable)

•Non treated episodes  10 seconds

•ATP only therapy  10 seconds

•Shock therapy  30 seconds


As long as 6/10 intervals remains fast, the arrhythmia is determined as sustained.

Once in an episode, the device applies a hysteresis of 40ms under the lowest therapy zone.
