Pulse generator replacement - overview

Pre gen change checklist
* Polarity:
•Ensure leads are bipolar and that polarity switch is off to avoid non pacing when the can is out of the pocket.
•If lead is unipolar only- inform the implanting Doctor.
•For LV lead ensure pacing polarity is LV tip-ring when possible.
•If LV polarity is programmed as LV tip to RV-ring, pacing will be lost if RV lead is not screwed in.
** Lead compatibility:
•If the lead is not IS-1 compatible, device with special header 03/06 header) or lead adaptor may be required
•Check the ICD lead compatibility (DF1 or DF4)
•LV – IS1, IS4 or LV1 (LV1 headers are hard to find)

Diathermy effects on CIEDs
Option for short burst diathermy or asynchronous pacing may be required in dependent patients.
May also pacing inhibition if the physician touches the can with metal equipment

Noise reversion asynchronous pacing

Temporary high output pacing (appears to be unipolar but is not)
